Brain Injury Survivor, Sharon Budd to Be Honored at 4th Annual Rock the Walk & 5K Run
Former Ohio middle school teacher who was struck by a 5-pound rock that crashed through the windshield of a car she was riding in is being honored at this years event. Sharon Budd suffered a crushed skull and severe traumatic brain injury and the event is the one year anniversary of her injury. It's a reason to honor Sharon's courage, strength and positive attitude and celebrate all brain injury survivors.
"July 9 is Brain Injury Awareness Day in Ohio. Sharon's injury occurred on July 10. It is the perfect time to recognize Sharon and her family as BrainSong spreads awareness and educates about the prevention of brain injuries throughout our community and the state", said BrainSong founder, Micah Jones.

Each year it's a step forward. It's hope for the survivors. It's hope for the future.
The 4th annual fundraising, education and brain injury public awareness event, Rock the Walk & 5K Run is in full swing. You'll see we've changed the name with the addition of a 5K Run!
You can participate by walking or running individually, creating your own team or joining a team. Team members can choose whether to walk or run. Either way it'll be an amazing day!
You'll join hundreds of participants at the beautiful Zanesville High School Stadium track. The walk track is wheelchair and handicapped accessible so all participants of various abilities have the opportunity to participate. The run is a different course and ...may not be accessible for wheelchairs.
Our event honors and celebrates the brain injury survivors in attendance. It's their day! Although our message is serious and educational, it will be a fun, uplifting day for all. Since music is an appropriate way to celebrate the spirit and mission of BrainSong, we’ll have:
• Featured Speakers,
• Event T-Shirt, Rock Pack, Finish Medals,
• Kids’ activities and free bicycle helmets/fitting,
• Concussion/Brain Injury Simulator,
• Distracted Driving Simulator,
• BrainSong's, IT'S A NO BRAINER Campaign,
• Brain Injury Education,
• And so much more!
Walk or Run Individually. Join or Create a Team. Be a Virtual Walker.
We've made it easy for you to participate individually or if you've never had a team, take your first step today to create a team. It's easy! During the registration process, create a Team Name. Invite potential team members to join by encouraging them to register online and to 'Select a Team'. Be sure to give them your Team Name. Consider a company or co-workers team, a neighborhood team or even a family team! Teams can be any size. Each team is asked to raise at least $100.
3K Walk & 5K Run
The first lap of the event, whether walking or running is for the survivors. They are what this event is all about! After the survivor lap, the runners will start, followed by the walkers.
The 3K Walk (1.8 miles) is eight times around the stadium track. The 5K Run (3.1 miles) is an off property course that starts and ends on the stadium track, but also exits the stadium for a course around the neighborhood. 5K Run Course Map
All walkers and runners will receive a medal upon completion at the closing ceremony beginning at 11:30 am.
Show you care even if you can’t be there! If you'd like to participate in the event, but don’t live nearby. You can join your friends and family on a team or participate as an individual by becoming a Virtual Walker. Raise funds for survivors wherever you live if you are not able to attend in person, but would like to show your support by registering for this event.
Rock the Walk & 5K Run will be an unforgettable experience, filled with courage, remembrance and inspiration as you walk, run and fundraise together!
